http://hubpages.com/hub/Teachers_Quit
This source coincides with my first email with an old teacher. The low pay
is not one of the main reasons for quitting. However, the excessive, unpaid
workload is. The list on this site appears to be in no particular order so it’s
hard to judge which thing teachers hate more. It also does not give details
as to the type of teachers surveyed, so the teachers that all quit could have
been mostly college-level course teachers. One may never know, but what
we do know is that money is not as big as a problem as the workload. So if
one would like to be a basic math teacher, he may not have to grade as much
homework as an AP English teacher, and therefore, would most likely be less
likely to resign from his position.

I emailed another one my teachers a couple days ago and finally got a response. Many of the things she said in regards to her pay and reactions to students went in line with what the first teacher said. She could live off of the pay by herself, but since she has a family it […]

Recently, I emailed my old AP english teacher regarding this I-Search paper and got quite an insight into the life of a teacher. He told me manythings, such as the pay “sucks” and the afterhours work being excessive, but that, also, it is all worth it. One of the things that stuck with me was […]

According to this teacher’s blog, being a teacher is a very demanding job. Even though one may have
comparatively low hours, the after hours, unpaid work can take up time that one would normally devote to family or friends. To
those who enjoy partying at night would not find this to be a good job because they still would have
homework even though they are not longer in school. But this blogger also says that he likes
working with students, which some people may consider to be hard. But this blogger says that
even he were to switch jobs he would still like to work directly with students, meaning that
helping kids is probably a plus with a teaching career.

Now if we delve deeper into payscale.com, we can see that actually,
the average starting pay for a teacher is around 34,000 dollars. This divides
out to around 10 dollars an hour. This may or may not be enough to live comfortably
depending on apartment prices and cost of transportation. But if one continues along this path, then they can be making around 60,000 dollars annually, which many people consider to be quite nice. So far, it would appear
that after the first year, when one’s salary normally increases, a teachers pay is enough to
not live paycheck to paycheack and probably have enough to buy some ”nice things”.

http://www.payscale.com/research/US/All_K-12_Teachers/Salary
According to payscale.com, the average teacher salary is around 40,000 dollars. Now I know that compared to other salaries, this is not very much. But if we divide that out, that’s around 19-20 dollars an hour, which is more than enough to live off of.

For the Revolution

April 7th, 2008 · No Comments

This is the album cover for the upcoming album “For the Revolution” from the Finnish Melodic Death Metal Band known as Kalmah. It’s their fourth studio  album and it is one of my new personal favorites. To everyone who enjoys good music, not some stupid screaming, whiny piece of junk, give this cd a listen. […]

The Star Fox team’s greatest rival is Team Star Wolf. Sitting at the head of this group is Wolf O’Donnell.
Wolf fights with his razor-sharp claws in a style that’s downright feral. His high risk, high return special moves are a blast to use.
